We are so glad you are joining our pack. We know that being a new cub scout can be a little overwhelming. We have addressed the basics below to help you get started, but as always, please feel free to ask questions.
At the local level, cub scouts are grouped into a PACK. Each PACK has multiple DENS, which are determined by grade level and gender, as follows:
Kindergarten - Lion Den
1st grade - Tiger Den
2nd grade - Wolf Den
3rd grade - Bear Den
4th grade - Webelos Den
5th grade - Webelos/Arrow of Light Den
The pack is lead by a cub master and assistant cub master, as well as, other leadership volunteer positions. The dens are lead by den leaders. Parent attendance and involvement is encouraged for each scout at all levels, but is required for the Lion and Tiger Dens.
Each den will complete requirements throughout the year to earn advancement to the next den level. Our pack uses an online program, Scoutbook, to track requirement completion. We also post
As the cub scout program is a national program, there are multiple levels of leadership above the pack level. For more more information, visit the Boy Scouts of America page.
Pack Meetings
On the first Thursday of the month, the pack gathers at Dominion Trail Elementary. Due to the ongoing COIVD-19 pandemic, pack meetings are being held outside at DTES with a virtual option.
7:00-8:00 pm The Pack Meeting - The cub master leads the meeting with announcements and reminders about registration, fundraising, and upcoming scout events. Then each den leader will present scouts with awards that have been earned in recent den meetings and/or at home. Scouts may help perform an opening and closing ceremony and participate in any songs or skits that are planned.
Den Meetings
Each den meets once or twice a month to work on a variety of advancement adventure belt loops and pins. Each Den Leader will establish their meeting time and place.
Typically our meeting schedule is as follows:
Lions: 2nd Thursday of the month
Tigers: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month
Wolves: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month
Bears: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month
Webelos: 3rd Wednesday of the month
AoLs: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month
Our pack dues are $175 a year, this includes the majority of activities, a neckerchief, slide and more. New scouts pay a one-time $25 joining fee.
